VSEX: Virus SysEX dump utility
Vsex is a command-line SysEx dump utility for the Access
Virus. It currently supports sending and receiving
Single Buffers, Single Banks, Multi Buffers, Multi
Banks, and Arrangements. Vsex also supports
command-line and filename overrides for patch name,
bank, and part/program.
If you found this URL, you probably heard about vsex on
the Access Virus mailing list at ampfea.org, from
another Virus user, or from me directly. If you have
any questions, comments, suggestions, or source code
patches, feel free to email me at
weston@sysex.net.
Features
- The new v0.14 is much more robust under active MIDI
environments!
- ALSA, OSS, and raw (/dev/midi) MIDI devices are
supported.
- Different MIDI devices can be specified for send and
receive.
- All dump types for the Access Virus can be sent,
received, or requested.
- Works in Single, Multi-Single, and Multi modes.
- Bank, arrangement, and total dumps are stored in
their own directories.
- Patches can be sent to/from the edit buffers or the
banks.
- Patches can be renamed or renumbered with filename
changes.
- MIDI device ID can be set if necessary (usually for
MIDI setups with multiple devices).
- Singles within an arrangement dump can be renumbered
for better patch organization.
- SysEx checksums are calculated and verified for
every dump.
- MIDI file output (SMF type 0) of stored dumps is now
supported. Designed for building patch sets and importing
arrangements into sequencers. You can now set your own
copyright message. This has only been tested with command
line MIDI players and the JAZZ++ sequencer. Please let me
know how these files work with your hardware and software
sequencers!

Download Init Patch Banks
(Virus B only. Unfortunately, I lost the versions that were
converted to Virus C patches. I'll work on that soon!)
